Building Stronger Communicators, Mentors, and Leaders Across the Irrigation Industry

The Irrigation Industry Association of British Columbia (IIABC) is introducing a new professional development program designed to help professionals across all sectors strengthen their ability to teach, mentor, and lead.

This half-day, in-person course focuses on practical strategies for communication, adult learning, coaching, and workplace training. Whether you are a supervisor, technician, educator, or team leader, this program will help you turn your professional experience into effective learning opportunities for others.

Program Details

Date: Tuesday, November 18, 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: Clarion Hotel, Abbotsford
Instructor: Dr. Roselynn Verwoord, PhD, University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), University of the British Columbia (UBC)
Fee: $300 for IIABC Members | $350 for Non-Members
Format: In-person, interactive workshop
Capacity: Limited to 10 participants
Registration Deadline: November 7, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.

This course is open to professionals working within the irrigation industry, allied trades, municipalities, education, and related fields. It is ideal for:

No prior teaching experience is required. All professionals interested in improving communication, mentoring, or leadership skills are welcome to participate.

Certification

Participants who complete the course will receive an IIABC Certificate of Completion, recognizing their participation in the first offering of the IIABC Professional Development Series.

When are the next CIT-1 and CIT-2 courses being held?

Course dates and locations are posted on the website as soon as they are planned. Each year at our annual convention in November and Jan-Mar in selected regions. Regional courses are not posted until after the annual Convention.

YES, but you must first pass the CIT-Level 1 exam before you can write the CIT- Level 2 exam.

No, the CIT course must be taken and exam then successfully passed to become IIABC CIT-1 Certified.

Yes, but it is highly recommended that a person take some irrigation design training which can be done where offered. Agriculture design courses are offered if a waitlist of at least 10 people is reached.
